Ghana’s women’s National team, the Black Queens will resume camping in the coming days as they prepare for their upcoming international friendlies against Senegal.
The team is set to travel to Dakar, where they will face the Teranga Lionesses in two matches, scheduled for April 5 and 8, 2025.
The friendlies are part of the Black Queens’ preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco later this year. The team has already played one friendly match this year, losing 1-0 to the Atlas Lionesses, the host team, in Morocco.
The Black Queens will be looking to bounce back from that defeat and fine-tune their strategy ahead of the WAFCON.

The upcoming tournament will mark the Black Queens’ return to the WAFCON for the first time since 2018. Under the guidance of new coach Kim Lars Bjorkegeren, the team will be hoping to make a significant impact at the tournament. However, they face a daunting task, having been drawn in a tricky Group C alongside champions South Africa, West African neighbors Mali, and Tanzania.
The WAFCON is scheduled to take place from July 5 to July 26, 2025, and the Black Queens will be eager to get off to a strong start. The friendlies against Senegal will provide a valuable opportunity for the team to test their mettle against a strong West African rival and identify areas for improvement ahead of the tournament.
With the WAFCON just a few months away, the Black Queens’ training camp and friendlies against Senegal will be crucial in shaping their preparations for the tournament. Fans will be eagerly following the team’s progress, hoping that they can make a successful return to the WAFCON and bring glory to Ghana.
