Ghanaian actor Fiifi Coleman and playwright Latif Abubakar have pledged to sponsor the 2026 World Theatre Day celebrations.
The announcement was made by Prof. Awo Mana Asiedu, Dean of the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, during the 2025 World Theatre Day celebration.
“Fiifi Coleman and Latif Abubakar have promised me money to sponsor next year’s celebration,” Prof. Asiedu said.
The event, held on March 27, 2025, was themed “Ghana’s Creative Economy: Theatre as the Heartbeat of Cultural Innovation and Economic Empowerment.”
Fiifi Coleman stressed the importance of collaboration in the creative industry, stating that collective efforts can lead to greater success.
The celebration was organised by the International Theatre Institute in partnership with the Department of Theatre Arts, with support from Globe Productions, Ghana CEO Awards, and Graphic Communications Group Limited.
