Merqury Republic organizers of the Ghana DJ Awards on Saturday, presented the gatheriing of the best in Disc Jockeying at the North Kaneshie brach of Melcom Plus, in Accra.
Ghana’s largest chain of retail department stores, Melcom, hosted the programme at the forecourt of the North Kaneshie branch of Melcom Plus, and attracted people from all walks of life including shoppers.
The programme featured skillful DJs’ and a Ghanaian highlife and afrobeats singer-songwriter Kuami Eugene and Erica Armah Bra-Bulu Tandoh popularly known as DJ Switch who is also a an advocate of education.
Lloys Kayana known in real life as Fredrick Chukwudi Onyenanu a Nigerian based in Ghana also entertained the audience
A DJ Cypher is a short display of Disc Jockeying talent from an incredibly wide range of DJs.
The curtain raiser session saw young talented youth who entertained the audience with their dancing skills.
The dancers were awarded with packages from Special Ice one of the sponsors.
According to a Media Consultant and the Group Director of Communication at Melcom, Godwin Avenorgbo, the Melcome group supported the DJ Cypher Awards to show appreciation to Ghanaians for their patronage of of services as they mark 30 years of the establishment in Ghana.
Adding that the determination of Melcom Group is to extend services to major marketing centres in Ghana in an attempt to creat jobs for the Ghanaian youth in the regions.
In line with that, shops have recently been opened in Koforidua, Mankessim, Wa, Kasoa, Weija and Melcom Bawku in the Upper East region which is the latest shop to open and with a few more projects soon to be completed.
This according to Mr. Avenogbo forms part of the group’s contribution to reducing the tendency of all the youth drifting to Accra for jobs they are not well educated for.
Present at the event were the Joint Managing Director, Mahesh Melwani and Group General Manager Francis Sam.
At the end of the show DJ Kelvin was adjudged the Best DJ by the Jury while DJ Putin came 2nd Best and DJ Gospel as 3rd Best.
They all received attractive Melcom awards of Electronic Speaker Systems and additional Pendrives to help them in their Disc Jockeying ventures.
