Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire finally determine coordinates on Maritime Boundary

Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire have reviewed and finalised the draft for the plotting of co-ordinates on its maritime boundary.

The two parties also jointly plotted the seven co-ordinates in accordance with the decision of the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and have agreed to discuss and execute the draft framework.

 This was contained in a communique signed by the two parties in Accra.

The Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo signed the communique on behalf of Ghana, whilst Adama Toungara signed for Cote d’Ivoire.

Mr Osafo Marfo announced that the two countries will continue to discuss co-operation in the areas of maritime boundary, hydrocarbon and other natural resources in the next meeting to be held in October.

The Head of the Ivorian delegation, Adama Toungara, was happy that the two countries have come to a peaceful agreement on the co-ordinates.

He announced that the meeting in October will discuss the protocol that would guide the implementation of the judgment of the maritime boundary.
