The Tema Regional Branch of the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, says its revenue mobilisation has gone up after about 40 companies and individuals were arrested for illegal power connection.
They are among defaulting companies picked up in a debt recovery exercise.
Speaking to GBC Radio in Tema, after a press soiree, the Tema Regional Revenue Protection Manager of the ECG, Zita Kyei-Gyamfi, said last year alone, indebted consumers paid almost GH¢2 million, representing eighty-percent collection.
She said the rest have agreed to settle their bills in full.
Madam Zita said many more are expected to pay up by close of work on Monday, February, 4 to avoid prosecution.
The Tema General Manager of the ECG, Joseph Forson said the company is resolved to work in three thematic areas, including revenue collection and revenue protection, as well as improve reliability of power supply.
