The Brong Ahafo Regional Landscape Officer at the Department of Parks and Gardens, Seth Mensah, has appealed to the Sunyani Municipal Assembly to collaborate effectively with private partners to develop the Children’s Park in the Region which is situated in the heart of the Municipality.

This he believes will give children and others a better recreational center.

In an Interview with Radio Ghana, Seth Mensah mentioned increased revenue for the Municipal Assembly as one of the benefits when the park is developed.

The land for the Sunyani Children’s Park was acquired in 1968 by the Agricultural Society of Ghana, since then the place has been virtually dormant.

The Department of Parks and Gardens as part of their mandate to maintain open spaces tended regularly. However, in 2000 the place was fenced to prevent lunatics from accessing it.

Since then, the Children’s Park has been virtually abandoned, with a library facility attached to it now in ruins.
