About 260,000 delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are voting at designated centres across the nation in the party’s presidential primary to elect the flag-bearer for the 2020 general election.
Seven candidates – former President John Dramani Mahama, Mr Joshua Alabi, Mr Ekow Spio Gabrah, Mr Kingsford Bagbin, Mr Sylvester Mensah, Goosie Tanoh and iddrisu Nurudeen are in the race for the party’s presidential ticket.
Voting was going on smoothly at polling stations visited in the Greater Accra Region.
At the Arts Centre, voting started at exactly 0700 hours, and one hour into the exercise, 200 out of the 1,403 delegates had already voted.
Mr Emmanuel Acquah, the Presiding Officer (PO), said they had not encountered any problems.
At the Seashell Polling Station at La, Mr Kofi Frimpong, the PO, said as at 0900 hours, 369 voters out of 1,696 had cast their votes.
