Most Rev. Bonaventure Kwofie is new Bishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Accra

The President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Rev. Philip Naameh, has called on religious, traditional and political leaders to use their unique positions to promote national unity.

He said whatever they perceive as barriers which may work against the national interest should be pulled down.

Most Rev Naameh who is the Archbishop of Tamale noted that there are no barriers in the Catholic diocese, adding that the most important thing is to win souls.

He said this at a ceremony to install Most Rev John Bonaventure Kwofie as the new Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra.

Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie before his new appointment to lead the Archdiocese of Accra was the Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi. He takes over from the Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle who is now in charge of the Cape Coast Archdiocese.

The Archbishop of Tamale and the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Rev. Philip Naameh said the significance of the transfer of the two Bishops is that there is no barrier in the Catholic diocese.

He asked Traditional and Political leaders to see themselves as agents for the development of the nation.

The new Archbishop of the Accra Archdiocese, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie described his transfer from Sekondi-Tarkoradi to Accra as another opportunity to serve God through the people.He expressed his readiness to serve the congregation to the best of his ability.

Among those who graced the occasion were traditional leaders and a delegation from the Presidency, led by the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare.
