Boxing loving fans in Tamale were thrilled with mouth-watering show as Mohammed Aryeetey of Tamale displayed a great performance to win the best boxer award in the Independence Day, McDan Amateur Boxing at the Jubilee park on the night of March 6, 2019.
The black Bomber – young talent Aryeetey suffocated his opponent Philip Adjum from Accra with thunderous left and right punches to invite more heat into the boxing ring to his advantage as he won the bout by three rounds to zero (3-0).
“didn’t believe I will be the overall best boxer tonight but bi believe its hard and the grace of god my dream is become a world champion and win more world titles for Ghana” Aryeetey said.
The night was sparked by fantastic juvenile pairings in a sell-out crowd, Joseph Atsu Mensah pitched camp with Elisha Mensah, the battle of the Emmanuels saw Emmanuel Mawuli facing off with Emmanuel Commodoore while Amadu mohammed locked horns with Theophilous Amarquaye, all bouts were adjudged majority draws as the juvenile rules requires.
Tamale boxing fans got what they wanted as the amateur division took it turn, the match ups saw Mohammed Fuseini too hot for Prince Amarquaye to handle as the bout ended with a 3-0 result.
Sule Mohammed recorded a 3-0 over Michael Dadzie, while Abraham Mensah defeated Bernard Ankrah with a 2-1 final judgement.
Injured Odartey Lamptey threw in the towel for a 1-2 victory to Moses Adjei. Africanus Neequaye handed Eric Asante a 2-1 win, while the family fight also had Gabriel Coffie defeating Stephen Coffie with a 2-1 judgement.
AKai Nettey in a final march beat Ebenezer Korlibie to end the long night after a special bout between William Laryea and Samuel plange came to an end. Sponsors on the night Twellium Foundation surprised the young boxers with special prizes.
The Chairman of McDan Group of companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley (Gudgba Naa) who initiated the idea to do the great boxing in Tamale expressed great joy about the demonstration of good boxing skills by the boxers on the night.
He said,”I’m for the youth am a youth and its my dream to make their talents is not wasted and also We shall create champions from this region, the youth here are strong and tough in character, what they need is the technical know-how and infrastructure.
He said plans are underway to construct a gym in the region to produce more champions.
He encouraged the boxers to work hard in their chosen sports and assured them that he would support them with the necessary resources to help them to succeed.
The president of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), George Lamptey, also believed that good boxers will come from Tamale full of joy he thanked Sponsors- McDan Foundation and Twellium Foundation.
Killing two birds with one stone, the McDan Foundation has also inaugurated an eight unit classroom block for Teong community in the Tempani District of the Upper East Region to facilitate access to quality education in the area the north will never forget the history and the supports of McDan in the region.
