Tamale will soon be without water. The PRO of the Ghana Water Company in the Northern Region, Nii Abbey who stated this, attributed the problem to sand winning activities at  the Dulan Water Treatment Plant.

This was made known at a forum in Tamale.

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) says obsolete equipment and tampering with its machines are some of the causes for the increasing power outages facing the northern sector in recent weeks. Nonpayment of bills and illegal connections are contributory factors to the company’s  ability to serve customers efficiently.

The Corporate Communications Manager for NEDCO, Maxwell Kotoka said the energy problem in the northern sector goes beyond the general problem of power supply nationwide.

The Regional Manager for the PURC, Issahaku Mashood Yakubu, said the Commission is positioning itself to deliver on its mandate and called on both utility providers and consumers to respect one another’s rights and responsibilities.
