The Ghana Health Service has refuted claims that the new malaria vaccine has not been tested and well assessed for its efficacy, hence it may pose health hazards to children who patronise it.
Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Director Public Health of the Service, Dr. Badu Sarkodie said the new malaria vaccine has undergone rigorous clinical trials on hundreds of children in seven countries, and in Ghana at Agogo and Kintampo.
He therefore insisted that the vaccine is safe and will immensely help in the fight towards eliminating malaria in Ghana.
His comments come following the circulation of a video inciting the public to boycott the vaccine to avoid health hazards.
Dr. Badu Sarkodie gave the assurance of continuous monitoring of the malaria vaccine with the help of the FDA.
