Namibia’s President Hage Geingob has declared a state of emergency to tackle the effects of a drought which has hit the southern African state.

All government departments have been mobilised to protect Namibians and their livestock.

The President said the rainy season is almost over but the country did not record enough rainfall.

This, he believes, has resulted in the drought and many will be affected by the situation.
