Hundreds of The Civil and Local Government Staff Association members are expected to demonstrate against the government over what they called political interference for three days.

A letter dated on May 15, 2019, to The Regional Commander, Ghana Police Service on the topic ‘notice of demonstration in The Greater Accra Region’ said, “The Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) wishes to inform you about an impending demonstration”.

According to the said letter, the purpose of the demonstration is to further press home their demand for non-political interference in the Civil and Local Government Services.

The letter signed by the Greater Accra Secretary of the Association, Samuel Collison noted that “The Civil Service and Local Government Service are not private companies owned by Ministers or political appointees. Mr. Minister, if you cannot abide by the rules of the services, leaves now”.

“We are fed up of with your impunity and disregard for procedures”, he added.

The demonstration is slated for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, at 9: 00am each day.

The proposed routes are from The CLOGSAG National Secretariat to Stadium, to Osu Cemetery Road to Office of the Senior Minister back to CLOGSAG National Secretariat. Expected number of participants will be five hundred, Mr. said.
