Ghana’s hope of winning a medal in the ongoing beach games in Sal has become a reality following their emphatic 2-0 victory over Africa champions Morocco in the semi finals of the volleyball event.
Ghana who are yet to taste a defeat in competition recorded 21-11 victory during the first set before putting a seal on the triumph with 21-19 in the second set to add the North African side to their list of victims.
The victory has maintained the team’s 100% performance and their dominance in the competition.
Apart from the chase for the gold medal, Ghana has also qualified for the World Beach Games to be staged in Doha later this year.
“We went into the game all out to get something. We are so proud of ourselves and then we are so happy we are in the finals now. Every athlete would go for a gold and at this point we are close to it we are going to do our best to win the ultimate”. Delighted captain of the team Kelvin Carboo speaks after the game.
Chef de Mission of Team Ghana Stephen Asante Bekoe delivered on his promise ahead of the game against Morocco.
Ecstatic Mr. Bekoe gave the team $200 after their triumphant victory in addition to the $350 he has given the team from his personal pocket as an appreciation and recognition of their hardwork.
The West African side meets Mozambique in the for the chase of the ultimate gold medal at the Beach Park on Sunday afternoon whiles Angola goes toe-to-toe with dethroned Africa champions Morocco.
