German Chancellor, Angela Merkel has arrived in Ghana for a state visit. Accompanied by German business delegation, she was met on arrival by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and a high powered government delegation at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The visit by the Chancellor is to deepen economic cooperation between Ghana and Germany and promote investments and business.
Angela Merkel will be in Ghana for a day and will visit Nigeria and Senegal as part of a three-nation West African tour.
This is the first visit by a German Chancellor since 2004.
While in the country, Angela Merkel will hold bilateral talks with President Akufo-Addo. She will also hold a round-table discussion on the Compact with Africa and Bilateral Reforms and Partnership Investments with the Ghanaian businesses.
She will then visit the Osu Impact Hub to engage with Start-up Entrepreneurs before her departure later in the evening.
