The International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) has invited Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the headline speaker at the Evidence to Action (E2A) 2019 Conference at the University of Ghana from 9 to 12 July.
It said Dr. Bawumia’s tenure has been defined for being an astute leader and influenced the development and execution of economic policies that has elevated Ghana’s economic position in Africa.
“Dr. Bawumia embodies the notion that responsible and accountable leadership is a driver of economic growth and creator of jobs and therefore development,” it said.
The conference would be held on the theme: “Responsibility and Accountability: Strengthening Evidence Generation and Use in Support of Policy Reform and Development Agenda.”
Some stakeholders who are expected to attend the conference include policymakers, researchers, economists, evaluators and professionals from the various sectors of the economy.
The statement said Vice President Bawumia understood the challenges and opportunities facing African economies and how they could be turned into tangible benefits for the people.
President and Chief Executive Officer of ICED, Dr. David Ameyaw, said he has been humbled and honoured to host the Vice President Bawumia.
The conference is intended to identify and discuss accountability and responsibilities of stakeholders in the use of evidence to improve development.
It is being hosted by the International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED),in collaboration with the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation, Office of the President, Ghana in partnership with the Feed the Future, Innovation Lab for Assets and Market Access and the Campbell.
