Today is World Population Day. The day was declared by the UN to deliberate on issues concerning population, especially how to control its rapid growth to commensurate with the resources available.
In Ghana, the day will focus on “Reproductive Health and Gender Equality for Sustainable Development.”
In a message to commemorate the day, the Western North Regional Minister and former Deputy Minister of Health Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, called for reproductive health to be taken seriously to reduce maternal mortality.
He wondered why a woman should die giving life to another.
Mr Aboagye Gyedu therefore advised pregnant women not to stay at homes till complications set in before seeking medical attention.
