An Accra Circuit Court Presided over by Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye has granted bail of one billion Ghana Cedis to the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM1.

As part of the bail conditions, he is to provide five sureties with three to be justified and report to the Police every Wednesday.

Counsel for the accused, Kwame Akuffo told the court that his client is not a flight risk because there is no treaty between Ghana and Dubai and that his client came to Ghana on his own.

He explained that his client did not abscond as being reported but left the shores of Ghana to go and collect money owed him by his partners in Dubai.

The Prosecutor, ASP Sylvester Asare agreed to the bail and its conditions.

Nana Appiah Mensah pleaded not guilty to the thirteen charges levelled against him which includes defrauding by false pretence and abetment of crime to defraud.

Some customers of Menzgold who have had their money locked up besieged the premises of the forecourt of the Circuit Court to demand their money.

A spokesperson for the Defunct Gold Dealership Company, Nii Armah Amarteifio said NAM1 is being taken back to the CID Headquarters to meet the bail conditions before he is finally sent home.
