The British High Commissioner, Iain Walker last Tuesday continued his fundraising cycling tour of the Northern Region when he rode from Tamale to Salaga.

This is expected to raise funds for the Korle Bu Burns and Plastics Unit.

He had earlier completed a similar feat in Damongo in the Savannah Region after which he moved to Tamale.

In the Savannah Region, Mr. Walker paid a courtesy call on the King and Overlord of Gonjaland Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa.

The cycling tour dubbed, “Ghana Grand”, started at Tumu in the Upper West Region on Friday, August 9, 2019 and is expected to cover over 800km in a week from the North to the south of the country.

In an interview with Journalists, The British envoy said the support he received and the interaction with the people of Tamale were inspiring and thanked the people of Northern Region.

The British Commissioner was accompanied by the Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Saeed. They both cycled from the Modern City Hotel to the Yumba School where the minister bade him farewell.

The minister said he was inspired by the initiative of the commissioner and commended him for the initiative.

He hinted that he will start a peace tour soon within the region to educate people on the importance of peace and development.

Mr. Saeed said the youth and some selected Chiefs would be organized to match and appeal for sustainable peace in the region.

The Minister said that the initiative would be adopted and used to raise funds to support developmental projects in the Northern Region.
