Most Ghanaians especially parents are panicking owing to rumours circulating on social media about the new modules accompanying the implementation of the new curriculum next month.

These  include replacement of BECE with WASSCE, introduction of Arabic and one hour extra curriculum activities for clubs, talks and guidance and counselling.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Executive  Director of the Ghana National Association of Private Teachers, Enoch Jetuah assured parents the new curriculum will make students more globally competitive since it was modelled after the Cambridge education curriculum.

He explained that the BECE will be phased out with time and not outright.

Mr. Jetuah added that it will rather serve as an avenue for the selection of schools and placement but not for  assessment.

Mr. Jetuah gave an overview of the new curriculum where he suggested that government  devise better feedback strategy to ensure the effective training of teachers on the new curriculum and its implementation.
