Air pollution is said to be killing more people in Ghana than ever before.
According to WHO, the phenomenon is linked to nearly thirty thousand premature deaths in the country every year.
This came to light at an In-house training programme for Editors, Producers and Presenters of the media organised by the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA at Amasaman in the Ga West District.
In a presentation the Head of the Environmental Quality Department of EPA, Emmanuel Appoh said air pollution largely leads to cardiovascular and other diseases.
He said to check bad air in the environment, the EPA has established fifteen monitoring stations in Accra alone as well as others in the Regions.
Mr. Appoh stressed the need for rigid enforcement of the over aged vehicle law since such vehicles emit smoke and other toxins which people inhale into their bodies.
