The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, has visited the family of Alhassan Asare, the deceased Police officer who died on guard duty at Dukes Filling Station on Monday at Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region.

The IGP and some members of the Police Management Board  commiserated with the wife and family of the officer.

A team of crack investigators from national headquarters have commenced investigations into the murder.

The acting IGP also met with the police officers on the ground and interacted  with them.

He told them of the compensation system in place for officers who unfortunately die in the course of their duties and assured officers of unflinching support once they perform their duties professionally.

“I’m prepared to defend officers who act professionally to the hilt”.

“We’ll mobilise bullet proof vests and working tools for performance of our duties” -IGP assures the officers.

The body has since been conveyed to the police hospital mortuary in Accra.
