The Daily Graphic says the President’s swiftness in suspending the CEO of the Public Procurement Authority with immediate effect is commendable and a welcome first step to thoroughly investigate the matter without hindrance and prosecuting offending parties if need be. The paper welcomes the reference of the case to CHRAJ and the Office of the Special Prosecutor and urges them to treat it urgency because of the public interest. It is the expectation of the Graphic that if after the investigations any act of illegality is found to have been committed there will be prosecutions and policy reforms for Ghanaians to regain confidence in the fight against corruption. It says the fight against corruption must indeed be won at all cost, lest Ghanaian perishes as a nation.
The Ghanaian Times is glad that the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mrs Cynthia Morrison, at a workshop, warned caterers and people involved in the School Feeding Programme who inflate figures of beneficiaries of the programme to desist from that. The paper says the warning is timely and appropriate to deter the dubious caterers particularly those who inflate figures for their parochial gains. It says the dubious practices are not only affecting the children but preventing the nation from getting the necessary returns on the investments made by government. The Times says although there may be challenges facing the programme, its concern is for the bottlenecks to be removed so that the programme would be implemented smoothly. It encourages government to deal drastically with those who would be found culpable to serve as a deterrent to others.
