Some polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Biakoye Constituency of the Oti Region have raised concerns about the eligibility of an aspirant, Dr. Frank Yirenkyi in the Party’s up-coming parliamentary primaries in the Constituency.

They alleged that Dr. Yirenkyi is not a card bearing member of the party in the Constituency but presented fake Voter and Party ID Cards to the vetting Committee.

They also alleged  that Dr. Yirenkyi bears two separate Voter ID Cards, one of which he acquired recently from Biakoye Constituency and the other from Adentan, in the Greater Accra Region but managed to have his nomination forms accepted by the vetting committee although they are inaccurate.

In a petition issued and signed by Batali Nashiru, Youth Organiser of the NPP in Abotoase RC Primary School and Christian Homeku Dzisah, Chairman of the NPP Market Square Polling Station, they revealed that they have conducted extensive research on all the aspirants who filed their nomination forms to contest the primaries but realised that Dr. Frank presented forged documents.

They alleged that Dr Frank Yirenkyi presented forms suggesting  he is a registered voter in Biakoye, contrary to him having no record in the Electoral Commission Biakoye Constituency Register compiled in 2015.

In an interview, one of the petitioners, Batali Nashiru said Dr. Frank Yirenkyi has never been a registered voter in the Biakoye Constituency for more than two years which disqualifies him to contest in the parliamentary race.

He said Dr. Yirenkyi has rather been a registered Voter in the Adentan Constituency in Accra and that he allegedly transferred his vote to the Biakoye Constituency during the referendum for the creation of new regions.

Mr. Nashiru noted that they have petitioned the appeals committee of the NPP and was optimistic that the appropriate decision will be taken on the matter.
