The Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, has developed a four-year plan called the Water For All Agenda.
The plan will ensure that 300 Small Towns Piped Systems,17,572 boreholes fitted with hand pumps and 1,228 limited mechanised systems are provided across the country.
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Dapaah announced this in an address read on her behalf at the opening of the CWSA-2019 Review Conference in Kumasi.
The Water For All Agenda programme forms part of government’s effort at providing potable water for the citizenry.
Madam Dapaah mentioned some projects that have been undertaken to provide water for the people.
She announced that $45.7 million has been secured from the World Bank as additional financing to complete outstanding works under the Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project.
She said work has progressed rapidly and is projected to be completed by December this year (2019).
The Chief Executive of CWSA, Worlanyo Siabi said rehabilitation and expansion works have started on some 125 water systems under CWSA management across the country.
He said even though there are some challenges, the Agency is working to complete the project.
He expressed worry about some agitations by chiefs and other interest groups to prevent CWSA from managing the water systems.
The review conference of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency will focus on how to provide potable water for all.
