President Akufo-Addo has challenged African leaders to surmount challenges impeding the growth of agriculture in their countries.

This he said, is the only way to ensure food security on the continent for the millions of its people.

The President stressed the need to reach a step further in digitised agriculture to move the continent forward.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking during the Presidential Summit of the ongoing Alliance for Green Revolution Forum in Accra.

The President during the forum outlined government’s achievements in the agriculture sector especially the ‘Planting For Food and Jobs’ Programme which he said has witnessed significant growth in contributing to Ghana’s economy in terms of provision of food, job creation and investment.

Moving Africa’s Agriculture to a digitized one has been the key message at the ongoing Alliance for Green Revolution Forum in Accra.

Though some African countries have already started using technology to boost agriculture, the effort is considered inadequate if the Continent is to ensure food security.

President Akufo-Addo noted that a lot needs to be done by African leaders to boost Agriculture in their countries. He said his government’s vision is to embrace fully, digitization to Agriculture development. He mentioned how the ‘Planting For Food and Jobs’ Programme has impacted on the country’s economy.

Former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Hailemarian DeSalegn lauded government ‘Planting For Food and Jobs’ Programme and called on other African countries to emulate it.

He asked leaders to step up investment and political attention needed to adapt to climate change and change the face of Agriculture.

The leaders prayed that the conference will not be a talk shop but lead to a more transformed Continent as a result of digitized Agriculture.
