Security analyst, Adib Saani, has extended his condolences to the families of the missing Takoradi Girls while calling for the head of the CID boss, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Dankwa.

His call for the resignation of the CID Boss comes in the wake of Police confirmation of the death of the four missing girls.

Mr Saani said Maame Tiwaa’s past comments on the safety of the girls have dented the image of the Police Service causing the public to lose faith in it.

Describing the latest development as a sad one on GBC’s current affairs programme, ‘Behind the News’, Mr Saani said he is shocked the CID boss is still at post.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed that the four missing girls in the Western regional capital Takoradi are dead. Acting IGP, James Oppong Boanuh told journalists in Accra that the results of the DNA test on the remains retrieved in Takoradi have been relayed to the families along with condolences.

The girls Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, 18, RuthLove Quayson 18, and Ruth Abeka were victims of a kidnapping syndicate traced to Nigeria.

Two of the suspected kidnappers are currently in police custody in Ghana while the fourth suspect who was arrested in Nigeria is still awaiting extradition.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the Families, Michael Hayford, says they will not accept the results.

Relatives of the Takoradi missing girls say the DNA results confirming that the remains found in a well are those of their relatives is false.

According to them, the move is only a ploy to bring the case to an end. Mother of one of the girls, RuthLove Quayson said the remains should be brought to them so that they can also handle it their own way.

An uncle to Ruthlove also discarded the results and called on the police to release the remains.

According to GBC’s correspondent, Marie Aziz Tunde in Takoradi, residents are still of the view that the remains are not those of the missing girls and therefore support calls by the relatives to continue to investigate, especially on the heels that at a point, it was mentioned that the girls were in Nigeria.

First suspect – Samuel Udoetuk Wills.
