Thirteen people were killed and many others injured after a bus heading towards Nairobi the capital of Kenya, collided with a truck in a town near the lakeside city of Kisumu, last night.

The Regional Police Head, Benson Maweu said the driver of the bus tried to overtake a tractor and crashed into an oncoming truck.

The police said 12 passengers in the bus, including a child, died on the spot together with the truck driver.

Deadly accidents are common on Kenyan roads, which police attribute to reckless driving, flouting of public transport regulations, and non-roadworthy vehicles.
