The Coalition of Muslims Organization, Ghana, (COMOG), has noted with concern the raging debate about whether or not government would inculcate the infamous Comprehensive Sexuality Education, (CSE), into the educational curriculum for children at the primary level.

General Secretary of the Organization, Haji Abdel Manan Abdel Rahman in a statement congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for assuring the nation, that the CSE will not be implemented.

The statement however, has issues about the National Population Council, (NPC), which was established by NPC Act 485, 1994, as the highest statutory body to advice government on population and its related issues.

The statement says while the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has stated that the CSE is not in the curriculum being rolled out for school children in various schools, the Executive Director for the National Population Council, Dr. Leticia Appiah whose outfit has been organising programmes on CSE across the country has also been in the media advocating for CSE, insisting that the CSE policy will take effect beginning next year.

The statement says given her position as Chief Government Adviser on population matters and her position on the matter regarding the implementation of the CSE in the country, it is clear that the NPC boss has an egocentric stance on the matter, which does not warrant her remaining in the office.

COMOG is therefore calling on Government to immediately ask Dr. Letica Appiah to appologise to Ghanaians or be shown the exit.
