The Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection Mrs. Cynthia Morrison, has described as unacceptable sexual abuse of female students by teachers and lecturers.

While admitting that some female students may dress provocatively, the Minister says, that should not be a justification for lecturers to take advantage of students.
Her comments come in the wake of the “Sex for grade” documentary by the BBC in which two lecturers at the University of Ghana have been implicated.
They have been asked to step aside for school authorities to investigate the allegations.
Speaking on a number of issues including abuse at the Meet the Press series, the Gender Minister, Mrs. Cynthia Morrison, said any form of sexual abuse against women is wrong.
Issues the Gender Minister touched on include, Government’s social intervention policies such as LEAP and school feeding program, trafficking and gender based violence. Answering a question on the Ministry’s reaction to the BBC’s sex for grade documentary and policies on gender based violence, Mrs. Morrison said wrong is wrong no matter what level it occurs.
On trafficking, the Minister announced that last year alone more than 320 victims were rescued out of which more than 250 were children.
The Minster while asking members of the public to report cases of abuse and violence through the ministry’s toll free line, assured Ghanaians of polices to protect the vulnerable.
