At the end of the two-day meeting of top military chiefs of ECOWAS, the military chiefs say although all options, including dialogue, are still on the table, they are now ready to enter Niger.
Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Dr Abdel Fatau Musah, said the Military chiefs have agreed on a date to move into Niger.
All they need is an order from the ECOWAS heads of State.
Dr Musah said member countries have committed to fund the operation.
ECOWAS maintains that the option for dialogue is still open, indicating that a mission will possibly leave for Niger today to try and negotiate with the coup leaders.
Decisions taken by the Chiefs of Defense Staff will be presented to the ECOWAS Commission for final decision and implementation.
