The Today Newspaper says the integrity of State institutions must be protected and respected to enhance Ghana’s fragile democracy. It notes that independent bodies such as the Electoral Commission and the Judiciary must be allowed to discharge their duties without fear or favour. The paper therefore urges all to ensure that the institutions are empowered to deliver on their mandates.

The Ghanaian Times supports calls by the Auditor General to commercialise corruption, a practice where a portion of the proceeds from a corruption related investigation is paid to people who conduct the investigation. The paper says paradoxically, Ghana has so many laws, rules and regulations that should make corruption unattractive, but it appears these are not working. It says corruption cannot be allowed to hinder the nation’s economic growth, development and democracy. The Times therefore calls on  society and individuals to join the fight in holding people accountable.

The Daily Graphic is of the view that licensing teachers will enhance professional values, attitude, knowledge and practice. It however notes that licensing alone will not ensure that teachers are ethical or good at their jobs, therefore the GES  must also put in place regular training programmes. The paper says the question is not whether or not to license, but what it will add to ensure quality education. The Graphic urges all teacher associations and education related organisations to support the roll out of the programme since the role of the teacher is important in nation building.
