The Daily Graphic  Lauds the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, SSNIT for allowing all contributors to its pension scheme to merge their unique scheme identification numbers with those of the Ghana CardThe paper finds the initiative timely as government is making efforts to digitize the economy and ease the cost of transacting business in the country. It says the number of people who moved to merge their numbers within the first three days show the desire to reduce the bureaucratic process which draws back the advancement of the country. It says many Ghanaians, especially those in the informal sector, take pension plans for granted. For this reason, the exercise will serve as a springboard to subscribe to the SSNIT scheme.  The Graphic hopes that through the exercise, SSNIT will identify those who do not have pension plans and roll them on it.

The Ghanaian Times says equipping the Ghana National Fire Service is imperative as a nation. It says the fire outbreak at Makola on Monday exposed the seriousness of the service’s logistical challenges. It expresses disappointment at the fact that the firefighters had to wait long for reinforcement and good equipment from the Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces and the National Disaster Management Organization to put out the fire.  The paper is however happy that government has promised to procure a sixty-one-million dollar equipment for the service to address its operational challenges. While the Times pleads with Parliament to see to the fast-tracking of the procurement, it also appeals to government to deal with human misbehavior at markets such as cooking with naked fire, over loading the electrical wiring system, illegal tapping of electric power, usage of defective generators among others.
