The much-anticipated singathon in Ghana that is to be witnessed by the whole world by an individual, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, who is attempting to break the longest singing marathon which is recognized by the Guinness World Records has begun.
The singathon began 24th Of December at exactly 12:00am of which the first 4 hours had her doing 106 pure Ghanaian songs.
The rule of the marathon is to take a break for every twenty minutes after 4 hours and also a song cannot be repeated until after 4 hrs. So far she has had five breaks in between and she is still standing strong although some Ghanaians fear she may not be able to make it, others have a feeling that she can make Ghana proud by breaking the record.
Asantewaa’s mission is all about taking Ghanaian music to the world stage. She is on a mission to showcase the incredible diversity of genres like gospel, highlife, and hiplife.
The security, ambulance services and all the authorities in charge of ensuring that the Akwaaba village is safe for the audience as well as Asantewaa are on standby for anything that may go wrong.
Indian singer Sunil Waghmare currently holds the record after putting in an astounding 105 hours of singing between March 3 and March 7, 2012.
