Ghanaian musical duo DopeNation have stated that music production is their powerhouse.

The group, in an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show, disclosed that running their own label is an interesting journey and they have a solid team that helps with monetisation and distribution.

“You see, we’ll always base everything on production. It’s because that’s where we came out from. And that’s what’s giving us our powerhouse. That’s our powerhouse. So, yeah, we would base all that on the fact that we do our own promotions, we do our own investments in getting our own studios, and we do our own marketing. We do all that,” the group told Kafui Dey on Friday, October 21.

DopeNation said they are in the music business and their label is registered.

“DopeNation is registered as a label. We registered our own company, made sure that everything is in place, trying to get people and then jobs prescriptions for them, and then try to make sure they live the work that way, we treat our brand as a business, and so far, so good. It’s five, six years. We are still learning,” DopeNation asserted.

Asked how they make money in terms of digital streams and royalties, the musical duo responded: “We started from learning how to get our streams to generate revenue, and now we have a solid team that handles our distribution. Basically, our job is to just do the music and then sit down with the team. When we sit down, they all bring their laptops out and they start taking all the assets, everything from lyrics to the beats to everything about the song. And they distribute it,” DopeNation explained.

The twins, who have been in the music industry for five years now, have multiple hits to their credit.

They are best known for producing hit songs such as Kpuu Kpaa by Shatta wale, Wow by Joey B ft EL, Sebgefia by Joey B and EL, Poison by Ebony Reigns, Forever by Eazzy ft Mr. Eazi, Nana Ama by Pappy Kojo, among others.

They were nominated for Music Producer Honor of the Year at the 2017 Ghana Music Honors Awards.
