“My name is Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri, editor of ModernGhana.com”.

“I woke up to media calls this morning. Though l refused to speak, some colleague journalists managed to convince me to give an account as an eyewitness. On that basis I gave my account after I realised the news had gone viral. However, i want to correct some comments the media twisted as follows:”

  1. My car was right behind Kuami Eugene’s car when the accident happened late night on Sunday at CP, close to DSTV after Achimota Overhead towards Dzorwulu traffic Light at about 11pm.
  2. His car crashed the back of a tipper truck which was in motion- moving without a tail light and at a slow pace on the N1 highway that has no street lights making visibility difficult and driving dangerous. Its wouldve been fatal if Kuami Eugene was overspeeding.
  3. Quickly I parked my car and rushed to rescue them. That was when I realised it was Kuami Eugene with another guy in the front passenger seat. I helped got them out of the mangled car.
  4. I called a friend at the Achimota Police Station which was closer to the scene. A team came and towed the mangled vehicle. I also handed the tipper truck driver and his guys over to the police.
  5. Some motorists who stopped volunteered to rush Kuami Eugene and his guy to the hospital whiles i stayed behind for the police to arrive so i could give my account and also hand over the tripper truck driver to them.
  6. I followed up to UGMC hospital with an MTTU officer. He took their details together with mine and left. I stayed for over an hour to be sure he was responding to treatment before I left almost 3am.
