Ghanaian musician Lamisi launched her foundation at the Alliance Francaise in Accra in a colorful concert dubbed the ‘concert for change’.
The Lamisi Fata Foundation aims to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene education and the distribution of reusable and disposable sanitary pads for girls particularly in deprived communities in northern Ghana.
The ‘Concert for Change’, was preceded by a conference dubbed ‘Pad it Forward’ where experts from the health, human rights and media space educated students from Ashaiman, Nima and Kanda on menstrual hygiene.
The climax of the two-day event then had the concert which saw performances of authentic African music inspired by her roots and Kusasi culture in Northern Ghana.
Lamisi and her band thrilled the Crowd with an enthralling performance and the audience could not sit still but joined in singing and clapping every song performed.
The conference and concert both brought together officers from the French Embassy, Amnesty International Ghana, women’s groups, students and the media.
