Hip life artiste, Okyeame Kwame has called on the NCCE and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources to collaborate more with musicians to fight insanitary conditions in the country.

He said these institutions play a key role in ensuring that songs on sanitation change the attitudes of Ghanaians hence the collaboration.

Okyeame Kwame is of the view that Ghanaian musicians past and present have performed admirably in using music to create awareness on the need to keep the environment clean.

He made these comments when he interacted with pupils in Accra as part of the citizenship week celebration by the NCCE.

Over the past few years, Ghana’s sanitation situation has declined, having moved from the 10th dirtiest to the 7th dirtiest country in the world.

The report which was released by the Word Health Organisation and UNICEF also pegged Ghana’s sanitation performance at 15 percent.

It is against this background that the NCCE focused this year’s citizenship week celebration on Sanitation.

One of the personalities for the celebration, Hiplife Artiste Okyeame Kwame took pupils of the St.Augustine Anglican School through ways of keeping their environment clean before taking a commitment pledge with them.

Okyeame Kwame called for more collaborations between musicians and the NCCE.

“I know that DBLACK launched a campaign about cleanliness, and many other artistes have made songs on sanitation but entities like NCCE and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources should engage the musicians more”

This year the NCCE intends to reach ten thousand schools with its campaign. It focused on the theme ” a clean Ghana, our responsibility”.
