Charles Nii Armah Mensah junior, also known as Shatta Wale has revealed that his father wanted him to be a lawyer and a pilot because of how brave and outspoken he is, however he found his passion for music at a younger age.

He made this known to viewers and listeners on Ghana’s number one morning show on GTV in an interview Kafui Dey. The Self acclaimed King of African dancehall detailed how his father had wanted him to be flying planes around the world or either be called to the bar but he chose to follow his passionate music career path.

Parents always plan the lives of their children at a younger age but some way some how when the children start growing up, they end up choosing their own career paths. That’s the same story of Shatta Wale who is now Ghana’s Dancehall king but would have been a pilot and a lawyer if he had listened to his father, Mr. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Snr.

According to the ‘gringo’ hitmaker, “my dad wanted me to be a lawyer and a pilot because he couldn’t be a pilot although he wished he was, I used to watch pilot videos and I loved science a lot even though it was very difficult for me but I was always doing well. My father always sees me as the outspoken type and I am too confident when having arguments or making out a point”.

He detailed how his father never allowed him have some social life whilst growing up. Unknowing to his father, he rather used the restrictions to grow and nurture the music passion. He mentioned how he also used the walls of his as his music writing pad and future career predictions.

“I felt the calling for music which was eating me up. My dad never allowed me to go out from a certain age and so I was always in my room writing songs on the wall. I started writing songs and making declarations into the future and it was all coming from God, a little broken home which I didn’t like made me leave home as well to follow my career path”, he concluded.
