Ghana’s newly appointed Director of Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), has met with the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Evelyn Palmer, to discuss key issues and strengthen commercial and creative ties.

In a post on Facebook on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, KOD shared that the meeting took place ahead of his participation in this year’s Black History Festival in Atlanta, Georgia.

He described the discussions as productive, focusing on areas such as education, immigration, and sports diplomacy.

“Our discussions centered on strengthening cooperation, expanding scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian youth, addressing the situation of over 150 Ghanaians awaiting deportation from the United States, and facilitating visa access for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States,” he wrote.

The Ghanaian media personality added that they also explored “broader areas of collaboration to deepen bilateral relations between our two nations.”

Also present at the meeting was Dr. Bernice Bremong, a Presidential Staffer for Investments and Health.

The engagement highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Ghana and the U.S., particularly in areas that directly impact Ghanaians at home and abroad.
