Controversial reggae-dancehall artistes Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, popularly known as Shatta Wale is celebrating his 35th birthday today, October 17.
Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana was born on October 17, 1984.
He begins his career in the early 2000s to achieving popularity with his 2004 single, ‘Moko Hoo’, which features Tinny.
He went on to win ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
Bandana went on break during his musical career for nearly a decade, came back and rebranded as Shatta Wale himself in 2013.
He began releasing music back to back under a new name, Shatta Wale, under his own record label (SM For Lyf Records).
He was ranked “Most Influential Musician” on social media in 2017 and also grabbed 8 awards at the 3music awards in 2019.
The “Dancehall King” is not only a musician but also an actor; he was featured in films like Never Say Never, The trial of Shatta Wale and Shattered Lives.
He was recently featured by an American music star Beyoncé on ‘Already’ for ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ album.
