US-Based Ghanaian gospel musician and leader of Rock Hill Church has expressed interest in featuring on Bob Marley and the Wailer’s ‘No Woman No Cry’ single.

Mr. Badu took advantage of a congratulatory tweet on Saturday, February 4, 2023 to  Sarkodie for featuring on a remix of Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up with the Wailers’ to make his intentions known to the Marley family.

“This is a big win for Ghana. In as much as a lot of people feel it should have been them and so they want to bring negativity, this is honorable for Ghana” he tweeted.

“Next time, please tell them [ the Marley family] I want to do ‘No Woman No Cry’, without Ntampi “, he tagged Sarkodie in an appeal.

‘No Woman No Cry’ is a reggae song by Bob Marley and the Wailers recorded in 1974 and released in 1975 on the studio album, Natty Dread.

It was recently covered by Nigerian singer, Tems and Marvel Music for the soundtrack of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

It was originally titled, ‘No Woman Nuh Cry’ to mean ‘woman, don’t cry’. Since its release, a variety of connotations have been attached to the song globally. To some, it means ” If there is no woman, there is no reason to cry” and to others, it’s a political song that talks about the suppression of Jamaica by England.

Maybe the world should anticipate a rendition of  ‘NO Woman No Cry’ with a touch of gospel vibes.
