South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has died at the age of 24. Police say she was found at her home in the Seongsu-dong area of Seoul on Sunday around 4:55 pm (07:55 GMT). A friend discovered her body and called the authorities.

According to the police, there were no signs of foul play, but investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.

Local police have not found any signs of foul play so far.

Kim Sae-ron began acting as a child and was known as one of South Korea’s most talented young stars. She was born in Seoul in 2000 and became famous after starring in the 2009 film ‘A Brand New Life,’ which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

Her career continued to grow with major roles in successful films such as ‘The Man from Nowhere’ (2010), which became the highest-grossing movie in South Korea that year.

In 2012, her performance in the thriller ‘The Neighbour’ earned her award nominations. She also starred in the 2014 movie ‘A Girl at My Door’ and the 2016 TV drama ‘Mirror of the Witch’.

However, in 2022, Kim stepped away from the public eye following a drink-driving incident. She was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023 for the offense.

Due to the controversy, her role in the 2023 Netflix series Bloodhounds was mostly removed from the final version of the show.

Fans and the entertainment industry are mourning the loss of the young actress, remembering her contributions to Korean cinema and television.
