Washington DC: American Actor Idris Elba shares vision with President Akufo-Addo to support Africa’s Film Industry

The very Talented and Globally acclaimed British-born, African Award Winning Actor and Filmmaker, Idris Elba has indicated that he wants to offload his wealth of knowledge in making movies to support the growth of the Film Industry in Africa.
Actor Elba met with Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo Addo in Washington, DC, United States of America.
This was on the sidelines of the US-Africa Leaders Conference in Washington, where the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo & the CEO, of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center, GIPC, Yofi Grant, have been in dialogue with the Award-winning Actor, Musician, & Filmmaker  Idris Elba, who ”wishes to lend his depth of experience and expertise to the African film industry”, according to a post by the GIPC.
Iddris Elba, who has roots in Sierra Leone and Ghana, illustrates people of African descent who have achieved great success in the global entertainment industry. His vision is therefore seen as a potential investment opportunity for Ghana, as well as the African Continent at large.

According to the GIPC, ”it is envisioned that a partnership with the award-winning actor and filmmaker would pave the way for more major films to be made on the Continent to amplify authentic African stories”.

U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit:

The U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, from December 13-15 in Washington DC, highlighted America’s commitment to expanding and deepening partnership with African countries, institutions, and its people. At the Summit President Biden and Vice President Harris announced new initiatives that will empower African institutions and citizens. These include ”strengthening people-to-people ties, ensuring a more inclusive and responsive global institution, building a strong and sustainable global economy, fostering new technology and innovation, strengthen health systems and prepare for the next pandemic, tackle the food security and climate crises, support democracy and human rights, and advance peace and security”.

Idris Elba:
Idris Elba first caught people’s attention with his role as the business-minded yet still-deadly criminal Stringer Bell on the amazing HBO series, ”The Wire”.
He has starred in multiple movies including the popular DramaRomance series by African American Movie Powerhouse, titled ”Tyler Perry’s Daddy’s Little Girls”.
Idris Elba played the Character. ”Monty is a mechanic struggling to make ends meet while raising his three young daughters. When the court awards custody of his daughters to his ex-wife, Monty desperately tries to win them back with the help of Julia, a beautiful, Ivy League-educated attorney. Monty and Julia couldn’t be less alike, but a flame is ignited…touching off a fire-storm of love and conflict.”
