The Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA, Prof. Philip Bondzi-Simpson, has called for the Council of State to be abolished because its work is not satisfactory.
According to him, the Council has existed over the past years as a state institution to advance the interest of government, rather than acting as an advisory body to the President.
Prof. Bondzi-Simpson made these comments when he delivered the lecture at the maiden Constitution Day Public Lecture in Accra.
Prof. Bondzi-Simpson said political parties should be held responsible for the caliber and competence of the people they present to Ghanaians to make laws on their behalf.
This is to ensure only competent individuals who have the capacity to make informed decisions are elected as MPs.
