The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has introduce new denominations of the Cedi.

The new banknotes come in one hundred (GHC100) and two hundred (GHC200) cedi denominations.

The Central Bank has also introduced a two-cedi coin.

This was revealed by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Ernest Addison at a press conference held in Accra on Friday (November 28).

According to the Governor, the new banknotes introduced will help shore up the value of the Cedi.

The governor also added that, the face value of the cedi compared to the US dollar over the past 12 years had eroded due to sustained periods of high inflation and depreciation.
