Constitutional provisions barring Ghanaians with dual citizenship from holding political office to be repealed

President Akufo-Addo has hinted of a repeal of Article 8, Section Two of the constitution which restricts Ghanaians with dual citizenship from holding political office.
The need to repeal the law is one of the issues that came up at the 3rd Ghana Diaspora Celebration and Home coming Summit.
President Akufo-Addo noted that the political right of Ghanaians with dual citizenship is a matter for Parliament and opportunity will be provided soon for the legislators to address it.
He said the government has a clear vision and called on all to contribute towards progress and prosperity.
The Ghana Diaspora Celebration and Homecoming Summit is an event that celebrates contributions by Ghanaians in the Diaspora to nation building.
President Akufo-Addo said government is on course in addressing the challenges of the economy, which the IMF described as the fastest growing economy in the world with a projected GDP growth rate of 8point 8 percent.

The President announced that a Diaspora Engagement bill is being drafted to deal with issues concerning Ghanaians living abroad.

He touched on the issue of Ghanaians with dual citizenshi  and holding of  political office.

President Akufo-Addo later outdoored a cloth for the year of return.
