The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is pleased that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) shares in its view for the involvement of the National Peace Council (NPC) on the proposed roundtable for the disbandment of political vigilante groups in Ghana.

In a statement signed by Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the NDC described the process as a National Dialogue on Constitutionalism and Non-Violent Social Engagement, which the party believes captures the scope of threat that the country faces.

The party however maintained that political vigilantism requires more than a law and order response in addressing it. This is in response to President Akufo-Addo’s directive for the Attorney General to proceed with a legislation to deal with the menace.

The statement hoped the two parties would remain constructive partners in advancing the quest for constitutionalism and peaceful engagements in all areas of national interest.
