Sergeant Fuseini Mohammed of the Marine Police Unit and one of the officers guarding the Osagyefo Power Barge has shot and killed himself for yet to be established reasons.

Reports indicated that he willfully sent his supporting guard to buy him a razor blade just to allow him the space and freedom to commit the suicide.

The Osagyefo Power Barge enclave at Effasu near Half-Assini in the Jomoro District of the Western Region had recorded incidence of theft involving police officers in recent times, but reports had it that Sgt Mohammed was not among those arrested for the crime.

Sgt Mohammed was found lying in a supine position in a pool of blood dead with the AK 47 rifle he used in the suicide by his legs.

A suicide note left behind read, “I cant take this disgrace, something I don’t know about.”He also wrote the mobile phone numbers of his wife, one Hajia and one Bianka on the sheet of paper.

Meanwhile, the corpse of the late Sergeant has been sent to the Police Hospital Morgue in the Greater Accra Region for preservation and autopsy.

DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the suicide said the write up by the deceased had nothing to do with the theft in the barge which occurred recently.

She disclosed that crime scene management team from Sekondi, Half Assini and Marine Police from Takoradi visited the scene to gather evidence after which the mortal remains were sent to the Police Hospital.

DSP Adiku said the two police officers, who were accused of stealing electrical gadgets from the Osagyefo Barge, have been interdicted.

The two officers deployed to protect the facility, switched responsibility from care takers to robbers and stole some parts of the Barge for personal gains.
