President Akufo-Addo has sworn into office three Justices of the Supreme Court at a brief ceremony at the Jubilee House.
The judges, Justice Mariama Owusu, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo and Justice Avril Lovelace Johnson replace Justice Vida Akotoa Bamfo, Justice Sophia Adinyira who are on retirement and Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo who will retire on the 20th of this month.
This brings to 16 the number of Justices at the Supreme Court.
President Akufo-Addo said the judges have the independence of spirit, proven integrity, impartial mind, and well deserve the position.
He charged them to ensure strict application of the law without fear or favour.
Justice Mariama Owusu, promised to live up to the Judicial oath.
President Akufo-Addo earlier swore into office 45 justices to the superior court of judicature. The 45 justices are made up of 34 in the High court and 11 in the Court of Appeal.
At a brief ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo urged them to demonstrate integrity in all dealings in order to maintain public support for the judiciary.
He warned that Ghanaians will not tolerate any act of corruption by the judiciary.
